In the end , Mike has lost his true self , refusing to confront himself and find answers about his feelings and actions. He has become a little version of his father in every way. He lost his identity and no longer knows himself. He has lost his courage and everything that makes him who he truly is. He became a merely a spectator in the background , reduced to his romantic relationships with the main characters. i hate how they skimped out on unfolding mikes internal struggles. there was so much time yet they instead chose to create new plots with sensible characters who did nothing to progress the original narrative. i think the whole ‘party’ was robbed of this as well. especially lucas and dustin (midnight and toothless) who were subject to constant bullying and alienation because of their appearance.
