Replaced all the hollow doors at my house with reclaimed solids from the habitat restore. Paid $15 for each solid wood door. So worth it. Looks so much better

So many of our doors are a bad combo of non-standard sized and hollow core which makes fixing them a pain and replacing them expensive 😢

I have something that will really piss you off. I live in an old ass apartment building, 1918 or around there, converted hotel, solid core doors, french doors between two rooms. But there are door frames with hinge cut outs that have no doors! I live in Portland and this is not uncommon. The last apartment I lived in, older, 1911 maybe? I've been into a lot of my neighbors apartments (visiting of after move out) and found out that other people had cabinet doors! And more doors! And less doors! They just don't replace the doors (not even cabinet doors). Maybe it's because some of our doors are strange sizes. Maybe they would replace them with hollow core if the could. We'll never know. Woah that was a tangent.

oh yeah. Shelly Duvall would have had no chance with a hollow core door. The shining could have had a very different ending

Hollow core doors have saved the fingers of countless children. Yes a lot of what she’s saying is accurate. Cheaper / corporations always cutting corners, etc. She’s just missing the child safety factors.

I will say hollow core is a lot easier to access in an emergency go right thru the door

My house was buil5in the early 30's. Previous owners changed all the interior doors to hollow core. Some people have no soul.

I'm a locksmith and I can tell you, for most houses, there's no point installing a high-security deadbolt because, when kicked, the door will fail around it.
