Genuinely will never understand the double standard in gaming. I watched a great game like Evolve get canceled for "paid dlc at launch" (all unlockable for free in-game) while games like COD got praised for having hundreds of dollars of DLC at launch lol

imo friendslop only counts the stuff thats just a reheated lethal company, like games where you collect/make x thing and try and make profit, or games that are entirely reliant on your friends being funny. Mecca chameleon is not that, its unique gameplay that is fun in and of itself. Imagine playing Repo or content warning by yourself, now imagine playing mecca chameleon by yourself. Very different things

if going out to get a snack is more expensive than the game but I play the game 3x-10x (sometimes more) longer than the hangout to get a snack would be plus we get fun interactions that would never happen irl, its worth it! like I have 60 hours on peak and thats not the only friend slop game I own! hell I have 120 hours on REPO, almost 200 on phasmophobia, and ill probably end up with 50+ hours on crashout crew! theyre definitely worth it if u actually let urself have fun w ur friends (and yeah some u will have less hours, some games wont work out as well but thwts FINE like ive had backseat drivers since before release and only have like 1h on it but thats fine!)

I buy my friends all the games to play together. I'm in a better financial situation than most and yeah, they're cheap games. I'd rather we all play together than leave some out because they couldn't afford it.

Personally I'm just not a fan of *playing* those types of games, I'm perfectly happy to watch my other friends play it while I play something else, but on that same token I'm also not vibing with alot of newer games (with a few standouts tho! BG3 and Far Far West have both been a great time solo or with friends) but I stick with some staples: TF2, Warframe, Risk of Rain 2, Minecraft.

The way i see it is you can go to se a movie spend idk atleast like 25$ on tickets, food and gas after that you will hang out for a few more hours and spend some more money. You can also buy a 15$ game and have fun for about 15 hours and forget about it. Im not saying one is better than the other i just think its a great comparison. The whole point of “friendslop” games is to have fun for 2 or 3 days and move on just like any other hangout.

Issue is nearly all the stuff that makes a majority of these games "fun" can be found by hanging out IRL or in a Discord call. Doesnt help that these games have a shelf life of about 5 minutes

If it’s fun, who the hell cares? No one is forcing you to buy anything. Like everyone seemed to enjoy lethal company when it came out. I thought it didn’t look fun and so I didn’t buy it and I had fun playing literally anything else.
