Honest question here, something that thick wouldn't it be better to stick weld it? I'm just starting to use mig at my job, and it's great for thin stuff like tubing and I use Tig when I'm doing aluminum, but I primarily pull out the stick welder for everything. We use mostly stainless at my workplace, so I'm usually running 309 or 316 stainless electrodes. But yeah, why mig over gmaw here?

Guarantee this was no longer square after it was finished you have to back step stuff like that and would be better to heat up as well not being mean just speaking from experience

Use duel shield when the metal is that thick mig just doesn’t penetrate as well as duel shield and mush better for structural integrity
