It helps immensely that it’s been gaining popularity. It still has a long way to go here, but once the US decides they want to be good at something, there’s a lot of raw talent that rises and efficient training. It also doesn’t hurt that the MLS features a lot of excellent international players. Hard not to get better when you play with and compete against amazing players. The better the competition the better you get.
