@pawsitive.healing: Starving Pup Eats ROCKS To Survive, Now She’s One Surgery Away From Healing, But Rescuers Need Your Help Can you imagine being so hungry that you ate rocks just to feel something in your stomach? Before being rescued, that was exactly what Professor Love did. Her body was in so much agony, and she was so depleted of nutrients that she ate rocks for meals. Now, she’s made a miraculous comeback, but without her upcoming hernia surgery, it’ll all be for nothing. Professor Love went through the wringer before At-Choo Foundation found her. X-rays revealed broken hind legs healed incorrectly, a fused spine, a stomach full of rocks and debris she ate just to survive starvation, and a painful hernia pushing her insides through her abdominal wall. She also tested positive for two tick-borne diseases, had elevated kidney values, liver damage, and battled a fierce flea allergy that left patches of her coat missing. But the most pressing issue is the hernia. Rescuers kept getting her checked, but for months, her bloodwork wasn’t yet cleared for the hernia surgery that doctors were adamant she needed as soon as possible. In the meantime, she wore a little outfit to protect her healing skin and was on a regimented course of medicated baths, supplements, a renal diet, and more vet visits than most dogs see in a lifetime. Now, the time has come. Professor Love’s bloodwork has shown significant improvement, and she has finally been cleared for her hernia surgery.
