@mmaxim_realtor: As a caregiver to my mom with young-onset Alzheimer’s, I’ve learned that there is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to managing agitation and behavioral changes. Over the years, we’ve tried several medications, including antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, and antipsychotics such as Seroquel and, more recently, Rexulti. While these medications can be helpful for some individuals, they did not work well for my mom, and ultimately the risks outweighed the benefits for her situation. I’m sharing our experience not to discourage anyone, but to help other families know they are not alone. Every person living with Alzheimer’s or dementia responds differently, and finding the right balance of care can be a challenging journey. This experience has made me incredibly passionate about dementia care, caregiver advocacy, and helping families connect with resources and support.
