As a PhD in literature, my comprehensive exams had me read 100 books in about 8-10 months and it was definitely more than consuming. It’s followed by a 2 day 6 hour exam and a 2 hour oral defense of your exam answers. And it wasn’t pop lit (which I could have read even more of) so I guess she can’t do it but it’s pretty standard in academic literary circles

Also, Novellas are book! Many classic well regarded pieces of literature are only 100-150 pages! Not every book has to be a 800 page odessey

And some books aren't meant to be some life altering, intellectual piece of literature that you talk about for months. Some are just meant to entertain you for a bit and then dip like a one night stand and that's okay.

reading is a HOBBY you can do whatever you want and there are no tests or book reports. You can Read 100, or 40, or 10 and it makes ZERO difference to the world. (except maybe to the authors you buy from)

I've read 93 books this year. I don't have either of my tvs hooked up so they're in storage and have been for 3 years lol. kinda lost my love for video games. so my life outside of work is horseback riding, doomscrolling, and reading.
