@raraboldyme: Alopecia representation on mainstream television is still incredibly rare, which is why this scene from Casualty caught my attention. The storyline explores Alopecia Areata, hair loss, confidence, stigma, autoimmune conditions, and the cultural significance of wearing a hijab. It also highlights how hair can be deeply connected to identity and self-expression. As someone who lives with alopecia myself, I was genuinely surprised to see these topics discussed so openly on a prime-time BBC drama. I’d love to know what others think. 💬 Do you live with alopecia or hair loss? 💬 Did this storyline feel realistic? 💬 Do you think @BBC Casualty did a good job raising awareness? #alopeciaareata #hijabis #alopeciaawareness #casualty #creatorsearchinsights

Honestly, I am still struggling to accept it. My daughter is 11 years old but lost her hair and eyebrows at the age of 9. Seeing my little girl and not being able to help her get her hair back breaks my heart. Multiple blood tests have been done, all negative. Hoping one day God will restore her hair.

Thank you for sharing. I am glad that they have this on mainstream TV in your area because awareness is necessary. As an Alopecia Awareness Advocate, I think they did it right, addressing treatment options as well as giving her space to ask questions.

really good to finally see this representation, only wish I had had a Dr that could have had a similar conversation with me!

I thought they portrayed the shame that can come with alopecia quite well and I related to the part about kids being naturally curious haha. Also appreciated that the diagnosis scene clarified that alopecia isn’t simply caused by stress. And the doctor’s quote “stigma thrives in silence” is a great message for all of us. I hope we see more representations (especially of fully bald woman) in the future🩷
