The 90s gave us memories. 2026 gives us notifications. Back then, if we wanted to meet a friend, we walked to their house, searched the neighborhood, or found them on the playground. We spent hours playing outside until sunset, swam in rivers without worrying about time, and every laugh was real because it happened face to face. Today, nobody knocks on your door anymore. Phones ring less, and messages have replaced conversations. Our closest companions have become smartphones and AI chats when loneliness hits. The rivers are empty because no one swims there anymore. The playgrounds are silent because the games are now inside our mobile screens, while many spend hours scrolling or watching live streams. Technology has connected the world, but somehow we've become more disconnected from the people living next door. The 90s taught us how to make friends. 2026 is teaching us how to stay online. Sometimes, I miss the days when friendship didn't need Wi-Fi.
