As a hairstylist, I do think deposits are necessary. BUT if the stylist did cancel then the deposit should be refunded. if the client cancels without enough time notice usually 24-48 then the client loses the deposit. i think this is completely wrong what she did. Please understand not all stylist are like this and we do require deposit because we have clients who do this to us all the time. and on such short notice it is hard to fill those spots and this is what provides for our family. its money we miss out on. But just to clarify this stylist is absolutely in the wrong.
