Hmmm…. Well, it already started out as a fallout post apocalyptic wasteland, after some dwarves found a green rock in the mines, that lead to test while the party gets a feel for the world, just for them to be trapped in ice after triggering a magical trap, the dwarves setting off a nuclear explosion. Why not add the backrooms as some sort wizard’s attempt to open a portal to a magical dimension to store items, people, and do experiments, just to open the doorway to something ancient that starts leaking into the wasteland, and pulling people into it?
