As long as you can accept "no" as an answer, it's usually fine. But if you keep pushing after someone has already said no, it can start to come across as controlling rather than caring. My ex used to do this. One time I said no because we were planning to eat afterwards, it was already late, and he had things to do the next morning, so it made more sense for him not to pick me up that time. Instead of respecting my decision, he parked his car near the restaurant I was at and watched me through the window. That's why I think there's an important difference between caring about someone and refusing to respect their boundaries. Once a person's "no" is ignored, it stops being about care and starts becoming about control.
