I’m just mourning that this is the best things will be in my lifetime. I’ll get over it. The empire is falling apart and that’s good. But it will be decades of decline before things can begin to improve. By then things will have gotten so bad it will be decades to just break even. The generation a hundred years from now will live good lives. That’s worth fighting for.

The biggest contradiction I worry about is ecological collapse. Even under a socialist/communist structure without serious alterations to our consumption serious consequences are looming large. I’m not convinced systems will change quick enough. A lot of lives will be lost. Hopefully we learn and rebuild better than before.
