The way I break it out is if I only paid for the product but not the service then I need to tip for the service. However, if there is no product and I paid for the service then why am I tipping?

If it a open bar I give a good tip usually after my second or third drink and don’t tip again because I don’t carry cash

There should be no tip. Tip when it’s an exceptional service. This is insane! I hope the tipping culture will never reach Europe. So should we tip the post office employees, the train conductors, the people at the hotel receptions? Why does the customer have to pay a waiter? Isn’t it the restaurant owner’s job to pay them decent money? Aren’t we already paying enough for a meal at the restaurant ? Why should I pay a hairdresser $300 for working an hour and a half on my hair, mostly letting the product work on my hair, then have to tip her 20% on top of the 300$!!!American people have become so used to tipping that they find it completely normal. Tipping is making it very hard for middle class and lower class to go to restaurants or buy services. So instead of going 4 times a year to the hairdressers I only go twice because of the tips that I have to pay. The same goes for restaurants. I prefer to eat at home rather than paying the ridiculous amount that we’re paying at restaurants. Tipping is actually hurting the service industry

In the Philippines I always gave my masseuse a big fat tip at the end of my massage and I left feeling relaxed drained of all stress. 😈
