Honestly a better alternative is recycled polyester. Some designs just don’t work for natural fibers and some natural fibers (like cotton) carry a heavy environmental and social cost.

I would suggest using Modal instead of cotton since it is natural, has all the upsides of cotton but is more softer and strechy! And works amazing in combination with Spandex. In the Netherlands and Germany many sportwear for women is made with Modal

The problem is natural fibers will never replicate plastic products. We need to change our mindset and wear more loose fitting workout clothes with natural fibers. If you look at the history of active wear, there basically is none. It’s a new category designed when polyester took off.
