It’s actually a phase, especially if your pup is in the monkey stage. Just gently correct or stop him whenever you catch him doing it, since puppies at this stage tend to chew on, spit out, or even eat loose fur.
Mine is a Japanese Spitz, but Pomeranians and Japanese Spitz belong to the Spitz family, so they go through similar developmental stages. Make sure to consult your vet about proper supplements and nutrition. In Zion's case, our vet prescribed additional support like Coatshine or anything with Omega 3.
These are Zion’s photos. The first one was taken when he was around 3 months old during his monkey stage. It took him more than a month before his new coat started growing back. The second photo was when he was 6 months old, and he had already become fluffy again. The last photo was taken after his first grooming, and his fur became even thicker over time. Until now, his fur is super fluffy, shiny, and very white.
So be patient and continue supporting him with proper nutrition. Also, be careful with grooming. Spitz breeds have double coats, and they’re not meant to be shaved or razored because it can damage their undercoat. Scissor trimming is the safer option. Lastly, get him used to regular brushing while he’s still young.
