Have you read A Distant Mirror by Barbara Tuchman? Brilliant, and a great intro to one of the best historical nonfiction writers of the 20th century.

Currently reading the Plantagenets, and as an American it’s absolutely spellbinding to get exposed to so much history we weren’t taught

Gotta check out The Greatest Knight: The Remarkable Life of William Marshal by Thomas Asbridge. Amazing story of an amazing medieval figure that’s widely unknown but hugely important.

With your recommendations, I've listened to 7 of these books. Finished Brothers York a bit ago which was a total favorite. Listening to Winter King about Henry VII right now.

Doing a trip to the Loire Valley in September and wanted to read something only focused on Eleanor of Aquitaine (and Henry II I suppose)- other than the Plantagenets. Any recommendations?

I love Dan Jones so much and i'd read whatever he releases. But Marc Morris's Anglo Saxon is the best of the bunch.
