As someone who lives nearby, I can assure you that staying in Boston would give a tourist a better opportunity to sightsee and get to the airport than staying in or around Foxboro. It’s not like there’s much to do around here and there’s not many hotels. Stop assuming everyone had no idea how far Boston is from the stadium.

It’s honestly surprising that in such a developed country, people can’t just walk or cycle to leave a stadium easily. A friend of mine was there and it took him 4 hours just to get on a train after the match. He said it really ruined the evening for him, it broke the whole festive atmosphere that usually continues after the game. Overall, a lot of people seem quite disappointed with the stadium infrastructure and how poorly it handles the flow of fans.
