@allyiadriving: i thought bringing my mom on the road would finally make her proud she always said she wanted to see what i actually do all day so i cleaned the cab picked her up early even let her sit up front like it was some cute mother daughter road trip at first she was acting normal taking pictures of the highway asking how i back into docks telling me she didn’t know trucking was this hard then she started noticing little things why my phone kept buzzing why i turned the screen down why some random men kept commenting on my posts why i got quiet every time she asked what i do after work and i guess she put it together because by the time we stopped for fuel she wasn’t proud anymore she was sitting there with that disappointed mom face then she said “so this is why you never tell the family what you really do” i didn’t even know what to say then she started crying in the passenger seat and said she’s telling everyone when she gets home my grandma my cousins her friends people i haven’t spoken to since high school then she said after today she doesn’t want to speak to me again all because she found out her daughter has a life outside the truck now she’s been silent for an hour just staring out the window like i crashed the whole family name into a guardrail but she still asked if we could stop for snacks so apparently i’m not good enough to be her daughter anymore but i’m still good enough to buy beef jerky and diet coke
