My son was one of the children to go and he stayed with a beautiful family you didn’t get a phone number but I can remember ringing the international operator from work and tracking down anyone with their surname in Schenectady and I eventually got speaking to my son, that was a long summer for me and a summer to remember for my son!

There was also another project called Euro Children, I went to Belgium every Easter and summer for 4 years ….im 52 and still in contact with my Belgian 🇧🇪 family

always remember being dissappinted i was never picked to go but in saying that had best child hood ever in West belfast during the troubles. despite the distractions.

I was one off the kids, I am proud to be classed as the (project kids) I went to Boston in America, the family i stayed with was amazing and they treated me like one off their own.
