Written instructions here: I learned all of these tips from the site: cleanclothnappies.com Here’s what has been working for me after battling with stubborn odours (front loading washer, hard water): 🫧 1. Detergent: I switched from a natural laundry soap to Tide free & clear detergent. I also add 1/2 cup Borax powder to each load 💦 2. Bidet sprayer: I’ve been using this for poopy diapers and have noticed a difference in smells since using it. It’s also much more enjoyable than smearing the poop off with toilet paper. ⏱️ 3. Wash frequency: this new method has me doing a shorter wash at least once every 2 days (or less) which helps limit smells. See more details below Wash process: 1. First wash every 24-48 hours. - This removes the soil from the diapers before they’ve been sitting for too long getting smelly - I add 1/2 cup borax and a max amount of detergent - I use a normal cycle, 4/5 heat and the total process is about 1 hour. - Most of the water comes out of the diapers in the spin cycle so I just leave them damp in a laundry bin with air flow until I’m ready for the main wash. 1. Main wash. - Once I’ve done 2 first washes, usually about 4 days worth of diapers, I run them all in the “main” wash. - I add extra dirty towels or any other laundry items to bulk up the load so the drum is 2/3-3/4 full to help get a deeper clean. - I use the heavy duty cycle, 5/5 heat. The total is usually about 2.5 hours. - I add 1/2 cup borax and the max amount of detergent 1. Dry. - I dry all the diapers in the dryer for about 1.5 hours on medium heat. - You can also hang to dry but we don’t have the space and for my specific brand of cloth diapers it’s recommended to put them in the dryer to help the elastics stay tight. The brand of diapers I use is @lpocoucheslavables and my code JULESHAYASHI gets you 10% off! 🇨🇦 Diaper pail, liner and bidet sprayer are from Amazon Canada, let me know if you’d like the links! 🔗 #clothdiapers #clothdiapermama #clothdiapering #clothdiapercleaning #sustainableliving
