The filter fabric will get congested. Like a furnace filter. Lomanco Omni and Duraflo make without, designed to stop water infiltration yet remain fabric free. Way better choice, but way more expensive.

not a fan of that type of ridge vent, but whatever kind you choose, run it all the way end to end, it looks better from the ground! Still put your first few ridge cap on the ends, then cover gable to gable with the vent.

I use a similar product called cor-a-vent with snow guard. it's a little thicker and more sturdy, but works well under a metal ridge cap

Ridgevents are squirrels and raccoons favourite way to access your attic. See it far too often. Squirrels easily chew thru it & raccoons rip it off

If you want a true ridge vent use metal, you don't have to have metal roof underneath.
