My tribe, the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation, was the tribe that was dismantled at Bacon’s Rebellion. I tell as many people as will listen that we my people kept the creation of race at bay for nearly 100 years. We also held off the expansion of what became the USA from the 13 colonies for the same amount of time. For reference as to who we are, we’re a first contact nation and wr led the fur trade here on Turtle Island dating back to when Mansa Musa’s elder brother voyaged to the Americas, and we were amongst the first few tribes who traded guns with the Europeans. They did us really dirty - an almost complete genocide of our tribe, yet we are still here. I really appreciated watching this video.
