@tell.atlas: Kenneth O'Keefe is a former U.S. Marine, Gulf War veteran, and vocal anti-war activist known for his outspoken opposition to Western imperialism and foreign policies. He made global headlines in 2010 when he disarmed Israeli commandos who tried to kill him aboard the MV Mavi Marmara during the Gaza Freedom Flotilla raid that ended with israel killing 10 activists. He was a machine gunner during the 1991 Gulf War, O'Keefe later transitioned to anti-imperialist and peace activism. He famously set fire to his U.S. passport in 2001 and organized the "Human Shield" action in Iraq, attempting to prevent the 2003 Iraq War by placing volunteers in probable target zones. During the 2010 raid on the MV Mavi Marmara by Israeli forces, O'Keefe used his military training to disarm two Israeli commandos. He was subsequently detained and deported by Israeli authorities.
