#VideoUp Some people leave their mark through words. Others through their actions. Hikmat Shabo did both. I have had the great honor and privilege of knowing Hikmat since the early 1980s. For more than four decades, he has been a true friend—loyal, humble, and blessed with a kind heart and a deep love for music and people. Whenever a church, an Assyrian organization, or a friend needed help, Hikmat was always there. He didn’t just share his beautiful voice and musical talent—he also brought his own sound equipment whenever it was needed. Most of the time, he did all of this without asking for anything in return. He never did it for money or recognition. He did it out of kindness, generosity, and love for his people, his community, and his friends. Throughout his musical journey, Hikmat has created and inspired many beautiful and well-known songs. His talent has left a lasting fingerprint on countless melodies that have become part of the Assyrian nation’s musical heritage. His music continues to live on in the hearts of those who have listened to it and will be remembered for generations to come. There are people who perform music, and then there are people who become part of other people’s memories. Hikmat is one of those rare people. Sadly, his health is not what it used to be. It breaks my heart to see such a wonderful person going through difficult times. I know I am not alone—his family, his friends, and everyone who knows him are praying for his strength, recovery, and better days ahead. That is why I created this song as a tribute to my dear friend. It is a song that Hikmat never recorded, but one he used to sing at Slagsta Motel when he first came to Sweden in the early 1980s. Every note carries memories, friendship, and gratitude. This song is my way of saying: Thank you, Hikmat. Thank you for your friendship, your generosity, and your kind heart. Thank you for always being there—with your voice, your music, your sound equipment, and above all, your compassion. Your music and your kindness have touched countless lives, and your legacy will live on forever. May God bless you with strength, healing, and many more years surrounded by those who love you. ❤️ A true friend is never forgotten. His music, his kindness, and his legacy will forever remain in the hearts of the Assyrian people. With my deepest respect and friendship, Dinkha Elia
