Trending claims about ‘two-tiered justice’ and’ anti-white policing’ in the UK are misinformation. Black people in Britain are seven times more likely to die after police restraint than white people, according to an eight-year review by the charity Inquest, which supports bereaved families following deaths involving the state. Riots broke out on Tuesday following the life sentencing of Vickrum Digwa, who fatally stabbed 18-year-old Henry Nowak. They were led by far-right pundit Tommy Robinson, despite explicit pleas from the Nowak’s family, who said during a press conference outside the court: “We do not want his death to be used to create further division, hatred, or tension… This is not a case about racism. This is a case about murder.” The ‘two-tier’ misinformation hashtag started trending during the UK summer riots in 2024, peddled by Tommy Robinson. Since then, says MEE Live’s Mathilda Mallinson, “it has waited in the wings for convenient opportunities to turn one man’s tragedy into another man’s gain”. Nigel Farage, Robert Jenrick and Elon Musk are other key “culprits”.
