100% serious… what she listed would take maybe 30 minutes to write down/make phone calls? When the hardest part of your job is making it seem hard

Why do they treat keeping a calendar like it’s building a rocket?

If you consistently over complicate things, of course there is a "mental load." It's not hard to sit down write down everything that needs to be done, and then make a plan. Structure and routine is key.

I'll never understand the belief that being a SAHM is so crazy difficult. And I'm a mom. I think a lot of moms try to be like Martha Stewart or something. They put too much pressure on themselves.

"meal plan and shopping"
literally just....basic stuff every single human needs to do. even someone who lives alone with no kids or spouse. you still need to figure out meals and buy stuff

what about my mental load? scheduling oil changes, mowing, cleaning gutters. changing lightbulbs, filling the water softener, replacing furnace filter, cleaning the pool and replacing its filter, maintaining pool chems, fixing all the crap that gets broken, etc. and doing all that while actually working a full time job.

Some moms create difficulty out of simplicity to justify their struggle. I saw a Tikotok where the moms were fussing over the kids for being messy when eating ice cream and dads were chilling in the shade not worrying. The reality is that there's no harm in kids being messy now and again. A wash later will quickly solve that. That's not something that required immediate attention.

Duder McDude :
Mental load is just listing every step of a process just to make it seem more complicated than it is. Like “I got the milk. Then I had to get butter. Then I had to get bread”. Instead of “I went grocery shopping”

Mental load just means being an adult. You’d be doing 80% of that without kids. Cooking, cleaning, work, bills, household items. The only “extra” is kids apprs (school, extracurricular, and drs). Literally a drop in the bucket. I am fully prepared to die on the hill that the “mental load” spoken about is anxiety over being an adult and not about the actual action of doing the list.

Who meal plans for kids? I ask my kids at every meal “hey what do you want for lunch?” And why do you need to make a calendar? Just take them to do stuff.

Do they not realise that any full time job is a lot more demanding than the list of items she has made? They act like we’re soo incompetent that we can’t do basic things

Not hard, just time consuming. People conflate time consuming with difficulty, but they’re different.
