It is a journey for many but not in the sense of intentional delayment. For me hijab was extremely scary at first, I was the only muslim in my town. I knew what the correct hijab was but struggled even with a simple headscarf. But I did it anyway. First I started wearing long pants and long sleeve Shirts even though they were tight, with headscarf with the intention to improve. After a month or so I moved to loose clothing, turned to skirts instead of pants and also a more covering hijab. Again after a little while I started wearing dresses. Some months passed and I got my first overhead jilbab and soon after I was niqabi. Every Single one of those steps were hard to take but with the correct intention Allah will strenghten us. Set your goal and make the intention to take those steps, do the best you can with the intention To improve.

It's a journey for the women who started late in their lives. It came with phases. And every phase is coupled with the level of strength in Iman. This is why there are women who when their Iman gets so high, they started wearing niqab. Modesty and level of Iman go hand in hand. It is not called a journey when hijab is imposed at a very young age, in which is the correct thing to do. Unfortunately, for some, started late, 30's 40's the adjustment was so huge that it became a journey, going thru phases. May Allah grant us ease in our struggle.

When the sahaba were addicted to alcohol Islam tool a journey to prohibit it. Never took one step prohibition. Yes there were sahaba like Aboo bakr who will accept the command without hesitation which is why he is titled Siddeque. But not every person is in the state of him. Human need time to change. You don’t always make the people fully in or fully out. Take a step at a time. So Islam looks easy.
