Basically you were in a Master studies but in Belgium you include the Bachelor in the Master studies. In North America you first need your Bachelor and then you do 1-2 years of Master education if you wanna continue. You did 3 year Bachelor and then your master BUT they were all lumped as Master studies.
That's why people are confused

Wait do you skip bachelors in Belgium? US colleges only allow you into masters programs if you have bachelors (first four years of college with a Major) or in special circumstances without one.

I think its just uncommon to call it master year 2 instead of bachelor 1-3, masters 4-5 in some countries.

Super interesting! Why is belgium so different haha in austria and germany you usually do 3 years of a bachelors program and 2 years of a masters program as well as apparently in all the other countries in the comments 🙈 Though I have to say the belgium way seems way more appealing

in what way is history degree related to journalism degree? to get it accelerated 90+% of time journalists deal with real time data, rarelly they have to dig for data, especially in modern time... meanwhile for history degree they should know like at least 1000 years of history dopending what culture or whatever they specialise in

In the US the first 4 years is for your bachelor’s degree. Then after that you continue school for 1-2 years if you’re getting your master’s degree

Belgian college student here: as some clarification we do have bachelor-masters (and Manama which is masters after masters). But a lot of the bachelor educations are more directly linked to one master

Yeah Belgian system is different to UK / US for sure. I did 3 years for a Bachelors in Science then did a Master degree part time later. Generally you need a Bachelors to do a Masters in the UK (you probably already know this thanks to Mr Sjokz 😂)

For example, in Mexico you need to do a Bachelor for 4-5 years then the masters is next and it's around 2-3 years. Usually, you enters the university at 18-19 years. You cannot do or extend your Bachelor 1 year for a master as in France.
Usually, in Mexico you only do a BS... obviously, just in case you can do it. So, as a Mexican, it's really impressive because that means you did all that will we are just entering university.
