@swimsy.co: From holding your breath → to automatic breathing ↓ Day 1 • You exhale through your mouth into the water • You stop breathing every time your face goes underwater • Water feels uncomfortable • Breathing feels stressful That’s normal. You’re just learning how to be comfortable underwater. 1 week • You start exhaling through both your mouth and nose • Sometimes you forget and hold your breath • Water still gets into your nose occasionally • Breathing is inconsistent But you’re beginning to understand: • when to exhale • how to stay relaxed underwater 1 month • Most of your exhale happens through the nose • You stop holding your breath as often • Breathing becomes smoother • You feel more comfortable with your face in the water Now breathing starts to feel natural. 100+ hours • Continuous exhale through the nose • You can slow down or speed up the exhale when needed • You can briefly pause the exhale and continue again • No accidental inhale through the nose • Breathing adapts automatically to your swimming speed • You no longer think about breathing Now breathing becomes automatic. Looks simple — but it’s not. Most swimmers don’t struggle because breathing is difficult. They struggle because they hold their breath. And holding your breath creates tension everywhere: • neck • shoulders • chest • body position 💡 Simple cue: Exhale continuously through your nose whenever your face is in the water.
