@cvprjaz_: During the World Cup's first match at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium, the broadcast caught an unexpected guest, one that wasn't on either team sheet. About 27 minutes into Saturday's Qatar versus Switzerland game, sharp-eyed viewers spotted a shadow sweeping across the pitch on live TV. It belonged to a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 passing overhead. Flight-tracking data tells the story. The jet, Southwest flight WN3698, was climbing out of San Jose International Airport, just six miles from the stadium, on its way to San Diego. Its departure path took it directly over the Santa Clara venue, and for a brief moment its shadow rolled across the grass in front of a global audience. It wasn't a planned flyover, just a routine departure at the right place and the right time. San Jose is the closest airport to the stadium by a wide margin, so jets climbing out over the area are a normal sight. But with the eyes of the soccer world on the Bay Area for the venue's World Cup debut, this Southwest jet got a cameo no airline could ever book.
