There are too many reasons for Elon to do it, and now that SpaceX is publicly valued, combining them is far easier. Elon has never enjoyed running both; in the early days he wanted a CEO for Tesla so he could focus on SpaceX and never found the right person. In a combined company he’d hold majority decision-making and ownership, and frankly, you want Elon’s level of ambition running the whole thing. People hear a trillion-dollar valuation and ask if it can possibly go higher. I don’t think SpaceX will be the first $10 trillion company. I think it can be the first $100 trillion company. That’s the size of the market we’re talking about, hundreds of gigawatts of orbital AI today, AI factories on the Moon with mass drivers tomorrow.
