@dollartreedinners: I spent less than $50 at Walmart and turned it into 5 family-friendly dinners. One thing that's important to me when I make these meal plans: I count the FULL cost of every ingredient. You can't buy half an onion or half a jar of sauce, so I include everything you need to make the recipes except for oil, salt, pepper, and water. Are these meals fancy? Nope. Are they practical, easy to follow, and made with ingredients most families can find at their local grocery store? Absolutely. Over the next few days I'll be sharing all 5 recipes, and I've also put together a free printable with the shopping list, recipes, and budget tips! Which dinner are you most excited to see first? #budgetmeals #cheapmeals #familydinner #mealplanning #DinnerIdeas

If you mix the ranch seasoning with the sour cream and the pickle juice from your pick jar it is also delicious and gives you a little extra flavor

Thank you for using the whole product price. It’s never not upset me when people say “this meal is only $5!” Because they’re counting the price of 1/3 cup of pasta and one potato and not an entire grocery trip. Who does that help?

Fun tip for anyone shopping at Walmart. Go to the freezer section and look for the clearance bread items. We make French bread pizzas all the time when we find the bread there.

when i say "i can't cook" i mean i couldn't do something like this where i just come up with a meal based on what's cheaper or what i need to use up. people say "anyone can read a recipe" but finding recipes that suit your budget can be impossible. you're doing the lords work.

I've literally turned saving money on groceries into an Olympic sport at this point 😅 We buy weekly so I sit down the night before and clip coupons on iBotta and Kroger. My main place I shop at is Walmart, so I start off with everything in the Walmart cart and then price compare between Kroger and their coupons and cash back on iBotta. It's a hassle but I've cut our grocery costs by $30 - $40

“you can’t buy a half jar of pasta sauce or half an onion” THANK YOU! Sometimes the whole ‘oh it’s easy I do it for $3/meal’ irks me bc dividing the cost by meal isn’t helpful for someone starting from scratch!!!!

Some of my favorite recipes are yours that I've jazzed up due to the privilege of having a bigger grocery budget. I've made them as you post and they're still good! Having been a family of 4 living well below the poverty line your channel would have helped so much with the mental load. Thanks so much for doing what you do!

One thing I do when it comes to spices. I go to an Ollie's, TJ Maxx, Marshall's or Homegoods. Typically you can find some spices that are outside the usual garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika super cheap. This is something I do only a couple times a year so I always have them on hand and dont have to figure them into my weekly grocery budget.

I use this instead of pizza sauce to save money. It just needs a pinch of salt. The 8oz can is enough for 4 personal sized pizzas.

using the same ingredients in different ways is a huge money saver. I'll buy a bag of potatoes and make baked potatoes, mashed, fries and then cut some and fry them when I make breakfast. I also use an onion for the burgers, fried potatoes and chili cheese dogs

just an FYI those parmesean and garlic packets make excellent homemade croutons. 1 pack per approx 8 inch sub roll.
