Many people don’t realize that lions spend between 16 and 20 hours a day resting or sleeping. Conserving energy is an important part of their lifestyle, allowing them to save strength for the moments when they need it most. Those giant yawns are also more than just a sign of being sleepy, they help increase oxygen intake, stretch facial muscles, and can even be a form of communication within a pride.
