@drmaryclaire: Breaking news in menopause, and it's good news. A Finnish study of more than one million postmenopausal women found that those using low-dose vaginal estradiol had roughly a 15 to 20% lower rate of rectal cancer than non-users. The signal showed up even with just a few years of use. This adds to a growing body of evidence. Studies on systemic estrogen point the same direction, toward lower colorectal and rectal cancer risk, and the large safety cohorts confirm vaginal estrogen does not raise colorectal cancer risk at all. The honest framing, because that is the only kind I do. This is a single observational study, so it shows a strong association, not proof of cause. We want prospective trials to confirm it. But the direction is encouraging, and it sits alongside everything vaginal estrogen already does well: it restores tissue, eases painful sex, calms recurrent UTIs, and protects the urinary tract. You use vaginal estrogen because it gives you back comfort and function. Findings like this one are a welcome bonus on top of a treatment that already earns its place. Menopause is inevitable. Suffering is not. 📚 Siitonen et al., 2025, Maturitas, Finnish nationwide case-control study. Supporting context: Mørch et al. 2016; Liu et al. 2021; Crandall et al. 2017 (WHI Observational Study, no increased colorectal cancer risk). #greenscreensticker

Started using it about 2 weeks ago. I have vaginal atrophy - I’m in post menopause and have had painful sex for years. I’m really hoping this helps!

I won't have my period for months, and as soon as I use vaginal estrogen, it triggers a period. Very light, for four days. I'm in perimenopause at age 56. How come this happens? All my paps and ultrasounds are normal.

I love that I just saw my OBGYN on Friday and she was spilling new tea about the benefits of vaginal estrogen! Sooooo grateful to Dr. Haver for being visible in this needed medical space and also to have found a clinician who is part of this work!!

I only get up to pee once or twice a night since starting vaginal estrogen, instead of 3-5 times, and I’m sleeping so much better as a result.❤️🙏

My OB said that I cannot take my estradiol pills with the vaginal estrogen. I’m so confused! I’m reading that I need both because they treat different symptoms.

I'm 51 and still get my menstrual every month. I'm wondering at what point I should I start vaginal estrogen being that I still get my period every month. My period may be up to a week early or a week late and I definitely am going thru brain fog.... but that's about all I'm going thru so I don't know when it's the optimal time to start....so confused...

Started using vag estradiol cream about 6 weeks ago and had dramatic improvement! Felt more "plump" you could say. Now I'm on Evamist spray once daily and Dr said I can stop using the cream. I'm nervous about stopping the cream. Anyone else use both?
