@cpap_sleep_coach: Something happens to a lot of CPAP users that nobody talks about. You start avoiding it. Not all at once. Just a little at first. You skip one night because you’re exhausted and the idea of dealing with the mask feels like too much. Then another night because you had a drink and just want to sleep. Then you’re only using it a few nights a week and telling yourself you’ll get back on track soon. And then weeks have passed and the machine is still on the nightstand but it might as well be furniture. Avoidance with CPAP is one of the most common and most dangerous patterns there is — because it feels like rest but it’s actually retreat. And the longer the gap gets the harder it becomes to come back. If this is where you are right now, this is not judgment. This is recognition. Because the shame around CPAP avoidance keeps people silent and silence keeps people stuck. You can come back from this. People do it all the time. The first step is just being honest about where you actually are — and then taking one small step toward where you want to be. 💙 This video is for educational and informational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. I put off seeing a pulmonologist for sleep disorders bc I always felt it was quack medicine. When my sleep apnea bc so severe and the symptoms were undeniable … I finally caved and had a sleep study. I’ve been using my bipap for almost a month now and the improvements I’ve seen are life-changing. I stay awake all day now, don’t wake up with headaches or the need to get up every 2 hours to use the bathroom. Even my eyesight has improved.

I went in not scared of it, I went in scared that one of the episodes in the night was going to be my last and send me to heaven. I went in so excited that I could totally relax and not worry before I went to bed that tonight may be my last. God bless the cpap and god bless you!
