@richardboydbarrett: Two of the greatest Irish revolutionaries in our long tradition of struggle understood the ruling class tactic of divide and rule, using racism and discrimination to pit working people against one another. Roger Casement gave his life to the cause of Irish freedom after witnessing firsthand the brutality, exploitation and dehumanisation made possible by colonialism and racism in the Congo and elsewhere. Their legacy reminds us that the fight for liberation is inseparable from the fight against prejudice and oppression in all its forms. Building a society where working-class people have real power over their lives, rather than living at the mercy of billionaires and now trillionaires, means challenging every attempt to divide us. Racism, discrimination and prejudice have long been used to weaken solidarity and protect the interests of those at the top. If we are serious about equality and liberation, we must stand together against all forms of oppression, because none of us are truly free until all of us are free.
