@itsmarizavillarreal: I’ve been living in Playa del Carmen for a year now, and this is one of those everyday local services I’ve known about for a while, but I’m finally sharing it because it’s such a good example of daily life here. At my Soriana, on Saturdays and Sundays, they set up an outdoor barbecue area right outside the grocery store. You buy your meat inside, bring your receipt out, and the women working the grill will season it, cook it for you, and pack it up when it’s done. It’s a free service, but they do ask for tips, and honestly, tip them. They’re standing over that heat cooking everybody’s food, and it’s such a convenient service for the community. There doesn’t seem to be a limit on how much meat you can bring them, so whether you’re grabbing dinner for your family or getting meat cooked for the week, you can walk out of the grocery store with your food already grilled and ready to go.
