The Delta State Police Command has arrested popular content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as “Odogwu of Asaba,” over allegations that he raped and assaulted a 20-year-old woman who later died after allegedly ingesting a poisonous substance. Police said the woman travelled to Asaba after Ogbonna allegedly invited her with promises of financial assistance and content creation opportunities. Investigators allege she was taken to a hotel, where she was sexually assaulted and physically attacked before returning home traumatised. According to the police, the victim reportedly narrated her ordeal to her family and recorded a video detailing the alleged assault before taking the toxic substance. She later died despite efforts to save her. Police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe said the suspect was arrested on the directive of the Delta State Commissioner of Police following a formal petition and has been questioned as investigations continue. Authorities urged the public to allow the investigation to run its course, noting that the suspect remains presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
