My mother in law now has no ability to communicate, she mutters to herself but doesn’t recognise anyone. £1500 a week for her to lie in bed drugged up to the eyeballs and not cause any bother. It’s criminal.

I visit a friend in a high end care home. Entrance is fabulous, grand piano, coffee machine, flowers everywhere, fancy sofas. I've seen behind the scenes, cheap food, burnt out staff and the only time anyone comes to my friends room is when the carers give her medication.

My mum’s care home is £7200 per month, her clothes go missing all the time but she is safe and happy and the care staff are fabulous. We have just sold her house to pay for her care, but when that runs out they won’t be getting anything from us. She is 86 and would be furious that all her saving/home has gone - but that’s what 24 hour care costs. I’ve investigated care home costs and the majority don’t make a massive profit. In the past council care homes were provided but they all closed or were passed to private companies because they couldn’t make it work financially. Dementia support/funding needs to be massively improved in the is country because it is only going to get worse!

I so feel for you. Recently lost my Mum to Dementia and her care was going to be £1650 a week. She was actually awarded CHC in the end but passed away before it actually kicked in 😢😢 We were hounded by adult social care for the weeks - I know they are doing a job but there is no compassion to us families that are watching this cruel journey. Sending strength and love x

My mum thinks my dads still alive , he passed away in 2022 🤔have to just go with it , it’s difficult when she’s saying he’s having it off with three women . I just say he’s winding you up mum 😁

Totally agree, I work in a care home on minimum wage and the residents are paying £5000 a month. It’s a lovely job but extremely hard work. Hugs to you and your family

We are in the same boat as you having to sell my mums house to pay for her care home fees. We get absolutely no help whatsoever.

I'm at the start of this journey with my dad and caring from him on my own. I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you. I've learnt more from your videos than hours of research I have done.

It's so wrong that people lose the home that they had planned on leaving to their kids. It adds to the unfairness of it all. They've paid their way and never had to rely on housing benefit but it's all taken away from them at the end.

100% agree with you as I’m at the same stage with Mum. When you look into her eyes, they are just glazed and the sparkle has gone. It’s heartbreaking. I also agree that the fees are extortionate, I only learnt yesterday about the policies you can buy in this situation. Staff should be paid so much more. I learnt yesterday about these immediate needs annuity policies that can be purchased, I’ve yet to find out more about them
