Aliette de Bodard told me to keep a file with the parts of a story that didn't make it to the final draft. We could recycle them for an other novel or a short story, or put them in a newsletter.

This was so insightful! My first novel I wrote as close to perfection so it was a very long process, for my second I’ve tried just brain dumping and editing which turns out, I HATE and the editing process has been so hard because this is the roughest, most nasty thing I’ve ever written 😂😭

Love these!✨Currently between draft 2 and 3 of my fantasy novel! How did you know which subplots to get rid of and decide between YA/NA??

Sooo helpful, thank you so much!! Once you’re able to share, please could you show/explain a side by side comparison of an excerpt from the zero/first draft vs the final draft? As someone writing the first draft of their debut dystopian novel, it’d be so helpful (bigger picture) to see how vastly it evolves and becomes more polished✨🫶🏻☺️xx

I needed EXACTLY this and I have a question! I’m writing my LAST zero draft of my fantasy book now (and yapping bout it on here) but how did you go from that to actual draft? Did you have to literally rewrite the entire thing because that feels impossible right now

I literally just did exactly this and it reads sooo much better now. Healthy compression, pacing and accessibility has transformed my entire story. Am I on my way to a deal 🤔
