@bloomingearthherbal: One of my favorite ways to get nutritive herbs into my child’s diet is through smoothies. While a warm cup of tea isn’t always at the top of a child’s wish list.. blending an herbal infusion into a smoothie is an easy way to add extra nourishment to something they’ll actually drink. For the most mineral rich infusion possible I like making an overnight infusion. You can do equal parts of each herb & fill your jar about 1/4 of the way. Pour in hot water, cover & let them steep for 4–12 hours (ideally overnight). Overnight infusions extract more of the vitamins & minerals that nutritive herbs are known for. My favorite herbs for children’s smoothies: ⚘ Nettle ⚘ Rich in minerals like iron, calcium, magnesium & potassium. A wonderful ally for overall nourishment. ⚘ Oatstraw⚘ Traditionally used to support the nervous system & provide gentle nourishment with minerals such as calcium & magnesium. ⚘ Red Raspberry Leaf ⚘ mineral rich herb that offers vitamins & minerals. Supports digestion & can help with constipation. ⚘Moringa⚘ Packed with nutrients including vitamins A, C, E, calcium, iron & protein. One of the most nutrient-dense plants available. Once your infusion is ready, freeze it into ice cubes or use it as the liquid base for your smoothie. Add fruit, yogurt, honey & enjoy.
