Hiro Kurusu is genuinely such an insufferable unrealistic character that she almost made me drop the show on how badly I hate her. They had no reason to forgive her and I hate when animes pull that trope. Build up a character and make the audience hate them then give them some sort of “sad backstory” just because people were fake to YOU doesn’t mean u have the right or should do the same to others. And then everyone just forgives her when she tried to break them up?? That shit would never happen in real life. People would cut ties with her and want to have nothing to do with her. But ofc everyone gotta forgive her. Forgive and forget. It would have been much better to cut her out the group and watch as she faces her actions, have her confess her wrongdoings to everyone and see how she handles the isolation and try to do better. Because that’s the realistic and ultimately better path for a character like her. I love this anime but no backstory is sad enough to make me like her.
