Writing my first book, I did not know anything about giving each character a belief until I saw one of your previous videos. I went back to character development and did that and I have been going back and rewriting what I had done already with each of those beliefs in mind for each character and when I was rereading chapter 1 back I was so giddy. How does one make a belief system more specific? For example my character believes they were not wanted as a child and therefore as an adult they believe they don’t need anyone. 👀 I agree more specific is best!

I have two characters that I want to flesh out in their own little mini stories. Stories that explain their backstory, their motives, and what will eventually lead to the conflicts in my main story. They are both protagonists in the main story that will be forced to work together to stop the antagonist. One question I have is if I proceed with this idea, how exactly do I explain their backstory? Like, do I flesh EVERYTHING out about them or leave some questions unanswered? I've seen people say that if I don't flesh out literally EVERYTHING about my protagonist, then I'm not doing my job right as a storyteller
