Had totally hip replacement 8 days ago the shower is terrifying tho I have a seat my sons girlfriend is a carer so she came to help out still in good bit of pain I’m hoping my next shower I’ll manage myself

I showered daily when I was non weight bearing. I did have a chair in my shower and I live alone so I didn’t have to remove it, but I was also still going to work and teaching daily so I had to shower. I just made sure to shower at night instead of the morning, but it took forever and it was exhausting. Had I not been working? I probably would’ve showered less because it was a chore.

What did they do to your hip? I had 3 screws put in 2 weeks ago now. I’m non weight bearing for 6 weeks, but never had range of motion restrictions. I live alone so I leave my shower chair in the shower and am finally able to shower daily alone without being scared. The first few days my mom came over and sat in the living room in case I needed her. I’m using a walker instead of crutches, but I wonder if crutches would be easier.

I have one of those tiny stand up showers which may be a blessing for this situation. I put my shower chair in and sit and use my handheld shower. Now that I don’t necessarily need crutches to make it to the bathroom, I just use my boot and take it off once I sit down and after I dry off I put it back on.

Once a week for me too, all I could manage. I had one of those shower chairs with the extra seat outside the tub so you just slide over into the tub. Game changer. Expensive but my daughter found a brand new one at a thrift store for $11! Best of luck to you stay safe.

I shower every day! I just use the shower cast cover I got from Amazon. I think it’s like 8.99 and it 100% keeps your cast dry. No water goes in so I’m able to do my showers daily ♥️

Thank you for demonstrating!! I’ve got a broken femur, and still haven’t managed to get in the shower myself with the shower chair. My poor husband😂

I bought a sliding shower chair which saved me. But I need to find a better way to cover my incision on the next surgery. I used plastic wrap which was a pain.
