i was born there and left when i was 9 years old. my parents pushed and pushed for me to learn english and abandoned all farsi lessons and now i can speak it but can’t read or write. i feel so incomplete and disconnected, i wish i could pick up a farsi book and read it but at 36 i feel so lost like it’s too late to learn again

I am not fluent in Farsi and I’m 100% persian. It is my biggest shame and heartbreak and I need to learn, I have to learn, I can’t lose this part of me. This was beautiful

My father was born in iran but never wanted to teach us the language. Phone calls taken outside, family parties were awkward bc we didnt speak it. Now that hes gone i want nothing more than to connect back to it

I’m half Iranian and my baba didn’t teach me Farsi, I started to learn it at university but it’s so difficult as an adult.. the short film made me cry, thank you. It also made me realize how short I might have the chance to actually practice with my dad.

I wish everyone could speak their native languages.. I want to hear every language from every corner of the world. Maybe we have one as a common language, but even then, we have translating apps now, so literally why does it matter? Peoples languages are beautiful, and they should be proud to speak it.

I was originally born in Russia and when I started to go to school I got better at english but started to forget my native language my mom noticed this and started to make me go to classes so I could learn it Again the thing is every time I say I'm Russian I don't feel like I am Russian so I relate to this
