@sheisapaigeturner: Also no one usually offers to take my daughters so they don’t have to go to his baseball games ##boymom##momofboys##momofgirls##millennialmom
It’s the 1-2 hour recital once a year and yet no one blinks about 17 baseball games a season 🤦🏻♀️

I spent hours at my brother’s practices *and* games and I had to be extra nice to him because he “had to” sit in an air conditioned auditorium watching dance literally once

Had to go to super long football games once a week no matter the weather, rain or shine. My brother had to go to one dance recital once a year and my dad joked that they couldn’t stay awake.

Idk what’s wrong with me but hearing him say “you know next year i can do that with you” about the VIP dance made my cry. It’s so good, and you’re doing a good job AND this will be how we do it with my kids too.

My son is going to his nieces dance recital … it’s hours long and he’s 10. He cares about video games and basketball. Yet, it’s important he shows up he knows how important that showing up is to his family member or some one he cares about. He wants them at his events. This is a great life lesson

My 6 year old LOVED his sisters recital. He clapped for all the dances, flipped through the book, gave her flowers and told her how good she did. His only complaint afterwards was that we didn’t give him flowers at his final soccer match. We’re definitely going to correct that next season.

This is wild to me. My brother came to all my recitals and brought me flowers. No way he would miss one. I went to all his belt tests. We showed up for each other. Isn’t that normal?

My son is 12. He plays 2 sports every season. My daughter is 7 and shows up for allll of his games and cheers him on. He attends her recitals without complaining. This year she tried out for company and she made it. The first person she wanted to tell was her brother. He went upstairs and pulled a card out from under his bed that he had made to congratulate her! He already had it ready. ❤️So supportive! (Also bc he’s funny he also had a “sorry you didn’t make it I love you” card ready to in case it went the other way) anyway company means more recitals for him!

Why would it matter if he wanted to go? He goes to support them. They go to his stuff. This is part of being in a family.

I don't have a daughter but I do have a niece. My two sons have not missed her annual dance recital yet. Because when you love someone, you show up for them. ❤️

I think that’s awesome! He is growing up respecting his sisters and their interests and abilities. That is a life skill that will make him a better human. 👍🏻👏🏻💪🏻

The ASSUMPTION he isn’t interested & that he simply would never want to do this. It hurts boys so much. They are not a MONOLITH!!! more stories like this, more parents hearing this, shifts culture - moves mountains ❤️

I had a dance recital every year from ages 3 to 18 and my parents made my brother go to every single one. I promise he’s fine!

I sat through my brothers football games and he sat through me dancing because you should support your siblings. He’s now an amazing dad of 3 girls and sits through gymnastics and their lessons. It’s such a great skill to teach children because soon they become adults!

This year was my daughters first dance recital and my son was absolutely there. His sister has been to each and every one of his sports practices and games. He actually said he enjoyed seeing her on stage!

Made sure to have a soccer jersey made for my 8 year old son for my daughters pink 4 year old team, it has her name on the back and he goes to every game and cheers her on.

My nephew’s kids are so good at this. Not only does he go to the girls soccer games, and the youngest’s dance recitals, but he actually came to my dance recital last week. He and his sisters are all being taught how to be such amazing supporters of each other and more.

We show up for our siblings no matter what. now my son doesn't go to alllllll his sisters gymnastics meets because tbh I'm trying to save money some weeks 😅😅 but he goes to at least half and he sits and watches them when it's their turn. and those things are like 4 hours long. And in return they show up to his soccer games

my grandfather is around 10 years older than my aunt. he went to every recital, even when he was in high school and old enough not to go. he hates ballet but he went for her. 40 years later he's just as caring but he's glad he doesn't have to go see a ballet anymore lol
