I’ve lived in the same region for my whole life. As a child, I the snow would be so thick and so cold that I could walk on top of it without sinking in. Now, for much of the winter, there’s not nearly enough snow, if any at all. We didn’t have a smoke season until iirc 2017 or 2018, but we have one every year now. I’m seeing bugs I’ve never seen before. People like to chalk in up to “we’ve always had crazy weather” as though we haven’t lost what constants we used to have and gained new ones. I genuinely think that if more of my neighbours understood that this is the new normal, we’d stop stanning oil and gas so hard.

Im terrified for the fire seasons that are coming. Fire severity is really effected by snowpack on mountains. So no/low snowpack = really bad fire season. We had a really low snowpack this past year too, its gunna be bad

as a person born and raised in a mountain town in colorado: i HATE the winter. i hate snow, i hate driving in the snow, i hate the cold. but-it is not only essential for our ecosystem but also our ECONOMY. our economy relies on ski season and tourism. i’ve been alive for a short 19 years, and it’s snowed on christmas morning for 18 of them. this year, we could see the grass. it’s TERRIFYING. i’m so scared for fire season.

I believe people also forget that sometimes it’s not warmer winter, and instead violent snowstorms that melt within hours then freeze into a sheet of ice, knocking down tree and powers, especially here in Pennsylvania.

i’ve stopped trying to explain this to these people. we’re going to have to just wait until it gets so hot that we can’t grow food and people start starving. then maybe the government will consider that this is a real problem. the people in office won’t do anything until the consequences are real and immediate for the economy.

moved from AZ to New England area and a lot of people here are scared because they finally had to buy A/C to not get sick after years of being fine just opening windows. In AZ everyone has been worried about the lack of monsoon season for the last 7+ years.

for the last few years there has been minimal snowfall in Nebraska when snow should be heaviest. November used to be the start of snow season and for the last few years it's been very late December or even early January and it only lasts until mid March.

I should not be sweeping water off the icy paths in December. Feburary in my area should be BRUTAL and it hasn't been. This is not okay. The water table is getting screwed up.

In California there will be more rainfall. Most would believe this to be a good thing but this will result in excess growth of invasive grasses that eventually dry up in the summer causing higher fire risk. Also California native plants have evolved to be highly drought resistant, so an irregularly high amount of rain may throw off some natural cycles.

I'm from the northern midwest and we BARELY got any snow in December. As much as I hate driving in the snow, it's so concerning that this is happening. I'm 20, but I still remember heavy snowfall all winter about 10 years ago
