Request to float to the ED for a few shifts just to do IVs. During my orientation, I had 1-2 shifts of just putting in IVs and it finally ✨clicked✨-ED RN

i think i’ve put in three ivs in my first year as an icu nurse. my patients usually have shit veins or central lines or already have plenty of peripheral iv

I’ve never missed an iv on a young relatively healthy person, however it feels like every patient that needs an iv in my icu has +4 pitting, weeping edema 🤦🏻♀️like come on, yall are setting me up to fail right now 😂

as an L&D nurse (different form of critical care) at a high risk unit, I do 1-6 IVs a day depending what's going on and whether or not I'm in triage. we also do blood work a lot too

Depends on the hospital. My ICU we do all the IV’s. Are US trained and we’re the ones who go to the other floors to place hard sticks.
